Christian Day Care

Andorra's Lil Angels Daycare and Preschool

PHILOSOPHY – “Learning Through Play”

A child’s first years are filled with incredible leaps of learning accomplished through hard work we adults call “play”.  They learn best by doing, moving touching, playing, listening, speaking, and interacting with peers and adults.  And in order for them to learn all they need in childhood, children need opportunities to explore their world, their abilities, their relationships, and their emotions, in a safe, secure, nurturing environment.

At Andorra’s Lil Angels, our staff is committed to meeting the learn-through-play needs of the children.  Every child is respected as an individual and is therefore given opportunities to do activities of his/her own choosing – including quiet time to snuggle up on a soft pillow or a comfortable chair.  Teachers gently guide children through structured activities so that learning is never forced, but rather is an enjoyable, natural outcome of each segment in the curriculum.  At Andorra's Lil Angels, we strive to provide the love and attention every child needs to grow well.

PARENT PRIVILEGES

Communication between parents and staff is essential for the well being and development of the children.  Therefore, our staff is always available to parents for consultation regarding their child.  Regularly scheduled conferences will also be held throughout the year.  Parents may visit their child at any time and are encouraged to spend lunch hour or play time with him/her.

INFANT/TODDLER GROUP

(Ages: 6 months to 3 years)

An infant less than twelve months of age will be assigned to a primary care giver who will be responsible for meeting the needs of the child during the major portion of the day.   The primary care giver will also be responsible for communicating with the parent regarding the child’s needs, schedule, or activities.  In this way, the infant receives the consistent, nurturing care she or he needs.  Although a daily routine is provided, we respect the individual sleeping and feeling schedules of the infants.

At one year of age, a child will begin to be introduced to a more structured schedule of activities.  However, both the structure and the activities are designed with the young toddler’s need for practice exploration, imitation, and repetition in mind.  Fun and exploration is the key!

The toddler program focuses on the child’s new-found mobility and great curiosity as well as his/her need for structure and routine.  Gross-motor activities and hands-on discovery form the basis for learning-through-play.  Characterized by the “NO!” and “MINE!” stage, these children will be helped by staff to cope with their fluctuating emotions and developing independence in a gentle, respectful way.

PRE-SCHOOL / KINDERGARTEN

(Three years to Six years)

Even at this age, a child’s best method of learning is through play and personal exploration fo the world using all five senses.  Therefore, the curriculum for this program continues to use a child’s natural sense of discovery and inquiry to introduce math, reading, science, and language skills.  Art and music expression is also encouraged, as well as continued development of gross-and fine-motor control.  In all stages of childhood, learning should be fun, fun, fun!
