Pastor
George Cunard has been Senior Pastor at Full Gospel Worship Center
since 1976. He and his wife Elaine are used mightily of God in our
Church, as well as throughout the Philadelphia area. His ministry
here, as well as his entire life, has been
marked with both a prophetic and healing anointing.
Pastor
Cunard is a native of Pittston, Pennsylvania, and in 1957, at the
age of 15, he received Christ as his Savior during an Oral Roberts'
revival tent meeting. During that same meeting, he was healed of
a stuttering tongue. One year later, he felt God's call upon his
life to preach the Gospel.
He
did not receive any encouragement from family and friends, and began
to slip away from the Lord. After graduating from high school, he
left home to work in New Jersey, where he fell farther away from
the Lord, taking on a life filled with smoking and drinking. During
this time, he was diagnosed with a rare kidney disease. He was the
only person in the United States and the youngest person in the
world to have this particular disease.
Doctors gave him only 3 years to live, and during these three years,
he would become addicted to prescription pain medications, and began
contemplating suicide. Knowing what his destiny would be if he committed
suicide was the only thing that prevented him from acting on this
impulse. One day, while driving through that New Jersey town, he
noticed a new Assembly of God Church that had opened up. He attended
Sunday School that following week, where he rededicated his life
to the Lord. That same month (October 1963), his doctors told him
that his kidney condition had become arrested - not getting worse,
but not getting any better. But on February 14, 1966 the Lord came
to him in a dream and said, "Son, thou wilt give testimony
to complete healing in one year," and on February 12, 1967
(2 days early), the power of God came upon him again while in his
sleep and healed him completely. Two weeks later, the doctors diagnosed
him as completely healed.
Pastor Cunard's testimony and ministry have touched the lives of
many people. He has appeared on the Oral Roberts television program,
the P.T.L. Show, The 700 Club, and has written for several publications.
He and Elaine have traveled to many countries sharing his testimony,
and the work of the gospel of Jesus Christ in his life, and wherever
they go, the power of God is at work. He considers himself a humble
servant of the Lord, and constantly gives God the glory for everything
that is accomplished in his life and in the lives of the people
to which he ministers.
